Travel & Stay

Most events will be taking place nearby.

The following recommendations predominantly focus on Ulcinj, the chosen location for the wedding. Ulcinj is the southernmost coastal town in Montenegro, located near the Albanian border. This vibrant area offers an engaging nightlife scene along its charming beach, where visitors can explore street vendors and enjoy a diverse selection of restaurants and clubs. The sandy beach extends for 10 miles and is lined with beach lounges for relaxation. It is advisable to exchange some currency, as euros will be required to rent beach chairs.

If you plan to explore towns near Croatia and Bosnia, such as Kotor or Porto Montenegro, consider staying in Budva, which is more centrally located along the coast and home to Sveti Stefan. Keep in mind that traffic along the coast can be heavy during the summer months, so allow extra time for travel.

Airbnb and Vrbo rentals are popular options for accommodation. Please let us know if you need assistance in finding lodging or would like recommendations for other cities.

Transportation

Taxi Services

While Uber is unavailable, local companies do operate typically through reservations on Viber or WhatsApp. It's advisable to use reputable taxis, which can be booked by phone or at designated stands. Most taxis lack meters, so confirm the fare before starting, and negotiate for longer trips. The Tesla Taxi App and LeCab is is a taxi service with an app that allows for booking.

Car Rentals

When renting a car, please note that most vehicles are equipped with manual transmissions; however, automatic options are generally available. Be advised that the driving conditions in Montenegro can be challenging, as road rules may not always be strictly followed. Many roads are winding, yet they offer stunning scenic views.

Airports

Direct flights to Montenegro are limited, with only a handful of airlines servicing its two airports. Both Podgorica, the nation's capital, and Tivat, located in a coastal area, are typically equidistant from popular accommodation locations. Alternatively, travelers can consider flying into neighboring Croatia or Albania and then driving to Montenegro.

Tradition

We recommend visiting a local "pekara" or bakery for freshly baked burek. Numerous restaurants in the old towns feature traditional cuisine alongside picturesque views. Rakija is a popular drink throughout Montenegro; however, it is advisable to consume it with moderation.
